Louisiana EPSDT (Formerly KidMed)
Meaning:
Periodic
What is the Louisiana EPSDT?
The Louisiana EPSDT is the child health component of Medicaid. It’s required in every state and is designed to improve the health of children.
EPSDT is designed to address physical, mental, and developmental health needs at wellness screenings.
Screening services to detect physical, mental and developmental conditions are recommended at periodic intervals. These services begin at birth at no cost to the Medicaid recipient.
Regular preventative care can help keep your child healthy. To keep on track and receive EPSDT on time with Medicaid schedule your child’s appointment at the following ages:
- Newborn
- 2 months
- 4 months
- 6 months
- 9 months
- 12 months
- 15 months
- 18 months
- Every year from 2-18 years old
Even if your child looks healthy, he or she may have health problems. EPSDT checkups can help find and treat those problems early, and may keep them from getting worse later on. Also, the EPSDT program is focused on keeping your child healthy and sure your child has their immunizations up to date as well.
Please schedule an appointment at each age above as this is a Medicaid requirement.
